You've heard the horror stories. So have we.
The deposit that vanished. The crew that stopped showing up in week three. The invoice that grew a little every day. Our answer to all of it: you pay nothing until the day we start, and the final payment waits until the work is done and we've packed up and gone. If we find something ugly inside the walls, that's our cost, not yours.
"I've heard the horror stories of contractors showing up and disappearing… but thanks to Vlad and his team, my fears were absolutely and completely blown away."
Kelsey · ensuite addition in a 100-year-old home, 2022
Best of TrustedPros for bathroom renovations more years than not since 2012. A great bathroom is detailed, precise, unforgiving work. That's exactly why we like it.
From a powder-room makeover to carving an entirely new ensuite out of underused living space. Tubs out, curbless showers in. Heated floors. Frameless glass. Floating vanities. Large-format tile that lines up the way it should. One client watched our tile man lay out patterns in different directions just so she could choose: "I don't think any renovators out there would do that."
Most bathrooms run $15,000–$30,000 depending on size, the number of pieces and whether the layout changes. Plan on 4–5 weeks. Could we go faster? Sure. You'd see it in the grout lines. We'd rather take the extra week and never hear from you about a leak.
"Very experienced contractor and I highly recommend, as I am very satisfied with the results."Michael · condo bathroom + flooring, 2026
The ensuite transformation
You know the ensuite we mean. The jacuzzi nobody's filled since 2009. The shower stall you have to back into. We take it all out and open the room up: freestanding tub, clear glass, floating vanity, large-format tile. Same square footage. Completely different morning.
In High Park, we went further and built a brand-new master bathroom out of a spare bedroom in a 120-year-old house. See the projects →
"Vlad and his crew renovated our washroom to well above our expectations — they turned it into an oasis."Kathleen · ensuite washroom, 2017

"In one word, PERFECTION! From the first visit to the last detail of installation, this renovation was flawless."

Thinking about yours?
Text Vlad a photo of your current bathroom. You'll get a straight answer about what's possible.
"We wish that we had another bathroom for you to renovate." — Maria & Michael, second-time clients
It's the most complex room in the house — trades, cabinetry, plumbing, electrical and structure all meet in one place. We've been untangling that knot since 2001.
Honest opinion: IKEA boxes are better than their reputation, and we've installed enough of them to know exactly where they shine and where they need help. We dress them with real stone and proper lighting. Your guests will never guess. We'll never tell.
The custom kitchen
For cabinetry built to your space from scratch, we work in tandem with custom kitchen makers we've partnered with for years — they take it as seriously as we do. Already have your own cabinet supplier? We'll coordinate with them too.
Either way, typical kitchens run $30,000–$50,000+ and take 6–8 weeks.
"The quality of workmanship is superb. They accommodated every request and transformed our kitchen — we're extremely happy with the results."Preet & Steve · kitchen renovation, 2017

Open-concept conversions
Half our recent kitchen projects started with a bearing wall. We handle the structural engineering, permits and inspections — in our 2025 East Credit project, the City signed off without a single extra visit, and we upgraded the existing beam supports while we were in there. Read that story →
"Communication was great, and options were presented to us when necessary."Chris · East Credit, 2025
"Vlad and his team did a great job on kitchen reno as well as impeccable painting of an entire condo."
Your basement is space you already own — it just isn't finished yet. Rec rooms, guest suites, home offices, theatres: upgraded space with real potential.
Most basement buildouts price out around $60–100 per square foot of total area and take about 8 weeks. The thing homeowners don't always expect: adding a full bathroom or kitchenette adds real cost — plumbing, drains and ventilation are the expensive part, not the drywall. We'll tell you exactly where the line is in the ballpark, before you've committed to anything.
"After several years of expensive quotes, Vlad came through with an affordable plan… all on schedule with no surprise additions."Joanne · basement water-damage repair, 2026
Older Toronto homes
Pre-war house in an older Toronto neighbourhood? That's where waterproofing, structural work and underpinning enter the picture. "Old houses are full of surprises under the surfaces," as Vlad puts it. After two decades in century homes, we budget for the surprises before we find them.
"Workable solutions were provided for many non-standard and unexpected issues — our basement was originally finished 30 years ago."Svitlana · basement renovation, 2015
"Best and neatest renovation ever. Vlad and crew were respectful at all times. Only went over budget amount by $200."
Sometimes one room isn't the problem — it's the whole floor. Open-concept conversions with structural wall removal, complete repaints, new floors throughout, bathrooms and kitchens rebuilt, all in one coordinated project with one crew.
Typical whole-home interior projects run $40,000–$60,000+ over 6–8 weeks. The trickiest part is the schedule — older houses hide surprises — which is why our quotes absorb the unexpected instead of billing it back to you, and why the same crew is on site every day until it's done.
And it doesn't have to happen all at once. Plenty of our clients renovate floor by floor, year by year — same crew every time they come back.
"They were beyond excellent in performing every aspect of the extensive renovation of my main floor bungalow."Cristina · main-floor renovation
Structural, done by an engineer's instincts
Vlad's background is civil engineering, and it shows on structural jobs: bearing walls removed, beams sized and installed, permits filed, inspections passed. Our last two open-concept projects went past the City inspector without a single extra visit.
"The Inspector had an easy time closing my permit. He said that the deck build was one of the most solid he had seen."Diane · custom third-floor deck, 2021
Condo renovations that keep everyone happy.
Limited elevators, strict working hours, neighbours on every side — condo work is its own discipline. Our approach is simple: keep the site immaculate, respect the building's rules, and plan for the longer timeline that condo hours impose. Property managers remember us fondly, which makes your next board approval easier too.
A typical same-layout condo bathroom: $15–18K, 3–4 weeks.
"Vlad and his team were approved to work my project and were invisible to residents and management — my neighbors did not hear a thing."Jennifer · strict condo building, 2024
Also ask about: cabinetry & millwork, feature walls and built-ins, tiling, painting.
"As always with Reno-eX, the service, quality of work, and pricing were extraordinarily good. They've pretty well renovated our entire house at this point — we're definitely return customers."
A repeat client — we'd renovated for them before — wanted the main floor opened up. We removed the bearing wall, installed the structural beam, raised the sunken living-room floor to one level, then ran hardwood throughout, updated the electrical, roughed in new kitchen plumbing and appliances, and painted the whole floor.
The tricky part: the wall we removed carried the home's plumbing, which had to be rerouted to current Ontario Building Code. The part we're proud of: the structural work passed City inspection without a single follow-up visit — and we upgraded the existing beam supports while we were at it.
✓ Project review by homeowner:
"This is the 3rd renovation that Vlad and his team have done for us. They did our 2 bathrooms upstairs, so when we decided to renovate our kitchen, they were the first team we turned to."Chris · third-time client · TrustedPros, December 2025
Humberlea Park, Toronto · Completed summer 2025 · 8 weeks · $40–45K*
Bungalow, reimagined
A classic Toronto bungalow that needed to breathe: bearing wall and entry closet removed, support beam in, an open-concept kitchen with island where three small rooms used to meet, new hardwood, doors, trim and hardware throughout, and a fully rebuilt three-piece bathroom. Older houses usually hide surprises behind the walls — this one was kept well, and the project ran exactly as planned.
*Custom cabinetry by the owner's kitchen maker, priced separately.
✓ Project review by homeowner:
"If I could rate Vlad and his team higher than 5 out of 5 I would! The entire project was on time, on budget, and stress free — which is virtually unheard of in the world of home renovations."Cristina · complete main-floor renovation · TrustedPros
Baby Point, Toronto · Completed May 2022 · 8 weeks · $45–50K
A second floor worth moving upstairs for
The owners loved their renovated main floor and wanted the upstairs to match. We moved a wall to turn one of the bedrooms into a large primary ensuite, renovated the existing three-piece bath, and refreshed the entire second floor. No architect's drawings — the design was worked out in conversation, room by room, against a century home's old plumbing (connecting the new ensuite to it was the hard part).
✓ Project review by homeowner:
"He solved problems when they came up — inevitable with a 100+ year old home — and the finished product is the bathroom(s) of my dreams!"Kelsey · Baby Point ensuite · 2022
"Since they completed the project I now use their craftsmanship as the measuring stick for great work."
Every renovation horror story starts the same way: money, or silence. Here's how we've kept both out of our projects for 25 years.
1
Text or call
Text (647) 269-0848 with what you're thinking — photos help. Vlad replies personally, usually right away, and will set up a quick call to hear what you actually want.
"Vlad always responded to my texts within minutes." — Preet & Steve, kitchen renovation
2
We meet at your place
We walk the space together, talk through ideas, and Vlad explains every next step so you know how the process works before you're in it.
3
You get a ballpark, in writing
Within a few days, an email lands with a general work description and a ballpark cost — labour, construction materials, supplies and garbage disposal included — so you understand the budget's boundaries before committing to anything.
4
Then a real estimate
If the ballpark works for you, we meet again to pin down details. You receive an Estimation Sheet: a detailed description of the work, the final price, and terms in plain language. Want a formal legal contract instead? Just ask.
5
One crew, every day, start to finish
Your project gets one permanent crew that works daily from day one to final walkthrough. No disappearing for a week to juggle other jobs. Crew hours are Mon–Fri, 8–5; Vlad's phone is on seven days a week.
"They arrive at 9:00am sharp and work straight through till at least 5:00pm." — Syd, bathroom renovation
6
Walkthrough, then the last payment
Payments follow the schedule in your estimate, starting only when work starts. The final payment waits until the work is done, we've cleaned up, and the crew is gone. Want a deeper clean? We can arrange a professional team at extra cost.
The money rules
No deposits. We never take money upfront. First payment is on the first day of work.
No hidden charges. If we hit something unexpected, we absorb it — surprises are never billed as extras.
Changes, priced first. Want to change something mid-project? We'll talk it through and adjust the quote in writing before the work happens.
You pick the finishes. Tiles, fixtures, vanities, cabinets — your choice, your taste. We point you to suppliers we trust so you're not guessing.
"We made some adjustments along the way, and they accommodated them."
CHRIS · EAST CREDIT, 2025
"Vlad gave us a price that was guaranteed, regardless of any issues he encountered; that sort of peace of mind is priceless."
PETER & HA · BATHROOM, 2018
Permits and inspections
Structural work needs permits, and permits need paperwork. We help you apply and we deal with every required inspection ourselves.
Workmanship warranty
If something we built isn't right, we come back and make it right.
Questions we hear on every first call
Do you really not take a deposit?
Really. Since 2001. Payment starts the day work starts, and the last payment waits until you've done the final walkthrough and we've cleared out.
How much does a renovation cost?
Most of our projects land between $12K and $50K+. Typical ranges: bathrooms $15–30K, condo bathrooms $15–18K, kitchens $30–50K+, basements $60–100/sq ft, whole-home interiors $40–60K+. Your ballpark email will be specific to your home.
How soon can you start?
Depends on the current schedule — each project gets a dedicated crew, so we don't overbook. Ask Vlad; you'll get a straight answer about the next opening. One reviewer's honest take: "It would take awhile for the work to start; however, it's definitely worth the wait."
Do you do design?
All options work: bring your own plans, work with one of our partner designers, or do what our Baby Point clients did — design it with Vlad room by room as the project takes shape.
Who's actually in my house?
A small senior crew, most of them working together for over 16 years, plus permanent trade subs we've used for decades. Same faces every day.
Do you work in condos?
Yes, and buildings like us — clean site, rules respected, hours observed. Expect a somewhat longer timeline; condo hours are shorter.
Is my project too small?
Probably not. The smallest job we take on is a powder-room makeover, and some of our favourite reviews come from smaller projects. "It was very hard to find a good contractor that would take on a smaller project," wrote Serena in 2021. "I am so glad I found Reno-eX!" Occasionally we take on handyman work and small plumbing or electrical repairs, too.
Can we live at home during the renovation?
Most of our clients do. We seal the work area with zip-up tarps and floor protection, contain the dust, and leave the site clean every night so the rest of the house stays livable. One family lived at home through an entire new-bathroom build and reported "very little disruption to our lives."
Are you licensed and insured?
Licensed (#84827 3876), plumbing licence (#306A-13362630), insured through Desjardins, and WSIB-registered (#7587322).
Is the work under warranty?
Yes — a one-year workmanship warranty comes standard. If something we built isn't right, we come back and make it right.
What languages do you speak?
English, Ukrainian, Polish and Russian.
Fair warning: when three quotes land on your table, ours is rarely the cheapest. If price is the only thing that matters, we're not your contractor, and that's okay. Our clients want it done once, done right, by people they're glad to have in the house.
That's Vlad. Founder, estimator, and the person who answers when you text. Civil engineer by training, painter by first Canadian job, contractor by choice ever since.
The story
"I was a civil engineer in Ukraine. My first job in Canada was painting. I loved it, and I decided to continue."
That was 2001. The precision, the visible result at the end of every day, the homeowner's face at the walkthrough — it never wore off.
Twenty-five years later, Reno-eX is the crew Vlad built around that feeling: a small team of highly skilled tradespeople — some working together for more than sixteen years — backed by trade partners we've used for decades. One crew per project, the owner on every job, and an engineer's eye on everything structural.
Most clients arrive through someone else's renovation — a friend's kitchen, a sister's basement, a neighbour's deck. The reviews tell that story over and over.
The name
Reno — just renovation. eX — three of them, actually.

What we believe
Income doesn't come first
Customer satisfaction and reputation do — they're what 25 years stand on. It's why we've turned down projects that didn't feel right, and why we've never needed to advertise.
Trust runs both ways
We ask for none of your money upfront — and we earn the rest of it day by day, on site.
Quality takes the time it takes
We never sacrifice the result to the schedule. "We spend as much time as it takes to make it look perfect." — Vlad
"The core guy is like that. The others follow."
Vlad, on why the crews are clean, considerate and low-disruption
The crew
Most of the team are long-time self-employed craftsmen who've worked together for over sixteen years — long enough that the standards don't need explaining anymore. We speak English, Ukrainian, Polish and Russian — whichever is most comfortable for your household.
You don't have to take our word for the sixteen years, either. Read the reviews and you'll meet the crew by name — Anatoli and Alex appear in them year after year, going back more than a decade. One client's toddler, by the end of the project, was "claiming she 'loves' Alex."
"His pricing is fair and transparent, his crew work cleanly and efficiently, and are considerate and do excellent work."John · client of ten years
